My Thoughts On Democrats, Liberals, And Hollywood

I’ve bit my tongue long enough.

I’m blown away, and I exaggerate not, at how Hollywood has come together as one to fully support the Democrats while throwing Republicans under the bus.

I know Hollywood is dominated by a bunch of liberal socialists (redundant?), but this is incredible.

If you’re a Democrat, you’re cool…hip…smart. You laugh at the Republicans. You look at them like they’re a bunch of drooling idiots. Don’t believe me? Turn on any main stream somewhat political TV show, watch an award show, etc.

If you’re a republican, you’re old-fashioned, living in the dark ages, and have a 3-foot stick shoved up your…

Our country is becoming sooooooooo liberal. It makes me sick.

I’ve never seen such support of a presidential candidate/president elect. T-shirts, parties, bumper stickers, people crying out of joy…it’s amazing. And when I think of what he stands for and I see how people still LOVE him, I’m actually scared.

Personally, I don’t want this new government’s version of “change.” I want to be left alone. I want less government. Much less.

It’ll be a fun 4 or more years. I’m actually excited, but that’s just because I’m a bit sick in the head. I’ll admit, McCain would prob have been a bit of a bore. I see nothing but adventure under the Obama administration.

None of what I said has ANYTHING to do with my Christian faith. Christian DOES NOT should not equal Republican.

Also, I fully support President Bush just as I will fully support President Obama. He is the leader that is appointed over me and I accept and respect that.

Edit: I echo what my pastor Greg Surratt wrote:

  1. I will pray for him and our country.
  2. I will assume his motives are good, giving him the benefit of the doubt.
  3. I will not speak ill of him, even if I don’t always agree with him.
  4. I will cast off the spirit of cynicism, and be a positive force for good.

Bill, I think one of the reasons people support Obama so much is because we had such a (perceived) bad presidency with Bush. Whether or not he was actually that bad can be argued but people are excited for something different which Obama put himself out there as, someone different. Plus, he was the first black presidential candidate which automatically caused some buzz.

With all this said, I do appreciate the fact that you are willing to support and pray for Obama. Many Christians have been real douchebags since the election and have said harsher things about those who did vote for Obama (i.e. sheep)and that they won’t serve under his administration.

However, I can’t be too harsh because I admit that I didn’t pray for Bush as much as I could have or that I would have been as nice if McCain had won (well I don’t really care as much about McCain but really Palin, not going there)
I also REALLY appreciate how you specifically separated your political views from your religious views. I could not tell you how many times people have treated me poorly or looked down on me because of my political decisions (”you want to kill babies”, no I hate abortion but I just don’t agree with legislation restriction because people will end up having back alley abortions, “you want to destroy the sanctity of marriage” no I don’t agree that one group of sinners should be denied more rights than any other sinner, etc)
But anyways, we as Christians have to be careful now more than ever not because of who is in office but the enemy is planting seeds of division and dissent among our people. “Pssh hey only idiots vote (fill in the blank). The other side does not care about your feelings. They don’t believe you are a REAL Christian.”
